Introduced by Land Rover in 1970, the Range Rover combined off-road capability with refined, luxurious features, setting a new standard in the automotive world. By 1995, the Range Rover had evolved significantly, incorporating advanced technology and luxurious appointments while retaining its rugged off-road prowess. Originally, this model year was fitted with a 3.9-liter V8 engine, producing around 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque, providing adequate performance both on and off the road. However, this particular example has been upgraded to a 4.6 Pursuit engine, which adds around 90 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque, drastically improving performance. It comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive, making it a versatile and capable vehicle.
The 1995 Range Rover boasted several innovative features for its time, including a height-adjustable air suspension system, which allowed drivers to adjust the vehicle's ride height for different terrains. The interior was designed with comfort and luxury in mind, offering leather upholstery, wood trim, and a host of convenience features that catered to both driver and passenger needs.
This model year marked the end of the first generation, as the Range Rover prepared to transition to a new era with the introduction of the second generation (P38A) in 1994. Despite this transition, the Range Rover Classic remains a favorite among enthusiasts for its blend of classic styling, off-road capability, and luxurious comfort.
This particular 1995 Range Rover Classic might be the ultimate example in existence. Originally purchased in Los Angeles, it was primarily used in Deer Valley, Utah, once or twice a year for the owner's family to enjoy as a ski vehicle. It remained with its first owner until 2020 and only accumulated 10,400 miles.
The current owner sought the best example they could find, particularly a soft dash model. After inspection and some paintless dent removal, the vehicle was cosmetically perfect, a testament to its originality and low mileage. In pursuit of perfection, the vehicle was sent to East Coast Rover in Rockland, Maine, renowned for their meticulous restoration work. Over approximately nine months and at a cost of about $75,000, the Range Rover underwent extensive service, repairs, and upgrades. This included upgrading to a 4.6 Pursuit engine with 270 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque, and addressing all mechanical and electrical systems using correct factory parts. New Michelin tires were installed, and the front brush guard was removed for a cleaner look.
After the work was completed and the car was extensively road-tested, the Range Rover was kept on the East Coast for trips through Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. Eventually, it was brought back to Los Angeles, where it has been enjoyed for trips to Mammoth and coastal drives.
With only 17,099 miles on the odometer, this 1995 Range Rover Classic is in exceptional condition, both cosmetically and mechanically. The original condition, low mileage, and work performed by East Coast Rover ensure that it not only looks pristine but also performs reliably, making it a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
